Every time I try running Mixed Up Mother Goose Deluxe on XP, I get an 'NTVDM.exe' error message saying that it needs to close right after I select a kid and it shows the bedroom. I tried running it on DOSBOX, but that doesn't seem to work. Are there any patches for the game to fix this problem?

I looked at the documents and it says that I need to run it on DOSBOX to correct the problem, yet it won't run on DOSBOX. Now I'm confused and have no clue how to run games on DOSBOX. I DO remember someone online mentioning about some other patch to correct the problem I'm having right now, but it seems to be nowhere in sight. Thanks for helping me out, I appreciate it.

OK, XP, you have?  I have not used windows in SO long, (Ubuntu Linux is my OS!) but I think DOSBOX is essentially the same in Linux as Windows, so I will try to help you out.

I will assume that you are using XP with C as your main hard disk.

1.  Open DOSBOX.  Probably something along the lines of c?:/Program Files/DOSBOX072/dosbox.exe
2.  Enter
Code:
mount c c:/
3.  Copy all the files from the CD to something like c:/mumgd (don't use anything with spaces, that complicates things greatly!)
4. (in DOSBOX) type
Code:
c:
and then:
Code:
cd mumgd
and then:
Code:
sierra

5. Come back here and let me know if that works

thanks,
LI!)

It might be easier if you get a Dosbox frontend that installs DosBox and everything else you need automatically.  There are a few that even have profiles for each game, so when you load the frontend and find the game listed as Mixed Up Mother Goose, you can just tell it where the game files are and bam, you're off.

just google dosbox frontend, you're bound to find something.

true, there are some of those.  I've never bothered (I use linux, and I think there's one for linux) but I think I've heard they make it easier.

True, DOSBOX is a great program, but the DELUXE ver. of Mother Goose will NOT run in DOSBOX.  I've tried and it says "Not Compatiable with DOS"

Then you need to try getting windows 3.1 in dosbox.  The deluxe version needs Windows, I think.

For those with problems, two solutions-

DOSbox installer(it does the work for you BUT YOU MUST HAVE THE CD!!!)here- http://www.sierrahelp.com/Patches-Updates/NewSierraInstallers.html

OR try this one from Abandoned Gamesroom's forums-http://www.agamesroom.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=63

I got it to work (FINALLY!)

I had to go and edit one of the game files in notepad and add an extra line for the game speed, then set it to something like "5000".

Now the game runs great! Although its a bit glitchy at times with sound effects such as opening a door or listening to crickets chirp. (sometimes there's a REALLY loud and annoying short white sound noise)

I found the best way to run the game after adding that extra line of coding, is to right click the Mixed Up Mother goose launch icon, and pick "Run as Administrator", and run it with 16 bit colors.
