thaaaanks Smiley,, the sky and atmosphere are all VUe,, it's he** to work with, but it looks amazing,,

btw, all 3d wannabees, e-on just updated the version to 8 (Vue), it's a tad more stable, plus a free learning edition just came out a couple of days ago,,

http://www.e-onsoftware.com/products/?page=try

the sky now looks even better, and the xstream integration is much, much smoother (xstream is the plugin fo cinema, 3dsmax, maya etc), though the renderer seems very slow in comparison to v7! so I suggest turning off the clouds when rendering anything other than the sky itself and then render the sky seperately and collage it in Photoshop etc,
the clouds make the scene a little darker, but one can just turn the light down manually cause clouds make the rendering soooo much slower for the scene overall,, strange!

and wheee,, a little bug in the app makes the external rendering without watermarks! (essentially you get the app for free Cheesy, only the standalone app though, doesn't work with Xstream, I  tried it myself and it works,, so download now before they fix it! Smiley,, I guess only a French company could make such a blunder *evil grin*, though even the learning edition is full of bugs and very unstable, so save every ten minutes or so,, this is the perfect tool for creating fast nature scenes, very (very) easy to use and get into, follow the install instructions:

http://forum.cgpersia.com/f13/vue-8-xstream-bug-no-water-mark-i-think-so-creo-sin-marca-de-agua-4220/

I love that idea GLaurung,, btw, do you have any cool reference pics?,, I could do something like the cover maybe, I think the lighting could be quite interesting, spooky,

thanks! Smiley

As for a request, Alexanders battle with the mighty Minotaur, deep in the catacombs on the Isle of...ehem...the Isle of...Galloping Gargoyles! I simply can not recall the name of the Isle, at the moment!

Its name is The Isle of the Sacred Mountain. Smiley

ah,, it's of course the isle of the sacred mountain,
I found the kq6 cover btw,, looks great, would be cool to recreate in 3d,, the red and blue light on each side of the room, very dramatic Tongue

there appears to be something in the bg though,, a statue of an angel or something,, or a woman.. tied to a marble column!?..hmmm,, maybe one of the winged ones..

Yes, the two scenes are depicted in very different ways, and I, for one, like the in-game depiction best.
I still remember the clove step sounds from inside the labyrinth, and that eerie and tense atmosphere they created.
Together with the narrator, I might add, he did a great job.

And yes, of course; it's the Isle of the Sacred Mountain! Thanks, Elessar!
This, of course, implies that it has been a while since I last played the game, and I really should rectify that, come Christmas.
But then again, my girlfriend comes to stay for the Holidays, and so I might be slightly distracted from duty...

Anyway, I take the opportunity of wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

aha, that sounds familiar rachel,, I remember I didn't like the labyrinth much though, not the' death realm' either,, but what an amazing game, best in the series!,

I think the cover though is way cooler, imagine if I add some fire and volumetric light (visible light beams etc),,I think that's gonna be keeeewL Tongue

yup, merry xmas everyone!

PS: maybe you still got that 'program' lying around, if you haven't already it's really worth looking into, especially the parts where Lucinda talks about awareness and self image, very powerful stuff!:)

hope you're feeling better, big hug from Norway! Smiley

been snowing the last couple of days,, and it hasn't rained away either like it usually does here on the west coast of Norway,, right now it's like a big glitzy postcard outside, soo bootyfoll!  Shocked

Well, the bad thing i was going through, seems to *hopefully* be over now.  But i didn't know till the very last minute, xmas eve!

Basically, i can't say too much on public board incase, but it was work related.

Thanks again for that CD you'd sent me before, i do have it in my cd rack next to comp but i totally forgot about it recently! Thanks for the reminder.

Hope everyone had a good xmas, mine was surprisingly ok! Though i was asleep most of it, haha!

thanks! Smiley

You're probably not alone getting a little depressed during Chrstmas, everyone's 'supposed' to be so insanely happy right! instead it might end up being a reminder of everything that's wrong with one's life!? especially if you're struggling with work related issues or difficult family members etc,, best thing is to get some help,, or just be open about it, talk to someone or try to find an understanding colleague etc,,
worst thing would be to 'run' from it imo, like Lucinda puts it. I really love the part where she talks about perception and self image,, and how you can actively turn things on their head by changing your 'perspective'; seeing things in a new light, and changing your approach or old patterns, just challenge yourself,, and turn something you see as a weakness into , somethting postive!,, positive being the key word here Smiley

Like; "if I have this depression at times, it might actually give me the chance to know myself better,, and people who get really depressed are also (generally!) able to experience the most intense emotions,, including happiness! and they're certainly the most empathic people too,, most able to feel deep compassion and love,, and in that respect most qualified for getting the most out of life"..

I found the program to be really inspiring,, and understanding that we all have an innate tendency to be afraid of fear itself,, afraid of being afraid!,, aha,, and then instead of running from it, embracing it and telling yourself that,, "if that's what it takes,, well, what the fu**,, let's go with it!,,all the way!,,

Sounds crazy, but wow, it really changes your perspective on things, instead of telling yourself "I don't wanna feel this way!!! or I don't wanna be depressed and unhappy!! (which creates fear of course),  you challenge yourself and turn the whole thing around, "bring it on!! give me all you've got!",, and ask for more!  Wheee Smiley, cause you now see it as an  opportunity to get the most out of life!

I think the key really lies in understanding that fear itself creates fear,, the day one can actually ask yourself genuinely  for mooore depression, anxiety. fear and unhappiness,, or whatever ails you, you take the air out of the balloon so to speak,,  the underlying fear that fueled it in the first place,, disappears! What a lesson that is!

It's really a great program, Oprah couldn't have done it better! Smiley
