I can draw.. its more I can't be bothered lol, I was never any good at painting I used to enjoy pencil or fine line pen work, but 3D if you get it wrong you just move something and re render, well its not that easy lol

I think lighting is the most tricky part of 3d,  test rendering can get really boring too, i sometimes watch a movie or read a book while doing it Smiley,  its defin. the most tiresome part, other than that it's probalby the technical bit, unstable apps and files getting lost or corrupted, luckily you don't have that problem doing traditional drawing,, well,, sorta Smiley

pencil and coal are my faves too, for the same reason Im addicted to digital art; changing, erasing and remodeling your ideas as you go along,
sometimes I would instinctively tap my finger on the canvas trying to find the 'undo' button when painting, I think that said it all .... Smiley

If you have any cool pics you've scanned  you should upload them here on this thread, Im sure the team wouldn't mind, if it's game related it could be an inspiration Smiley

btw, I just finished playing 'Jolly Rover',, a fan game resembling Monkey Island, and wow, what a great game! It's been a long time since I played such a funny, smart and engaging adv game, the dialogue was solid, straight to the point and very, very funny, the puzzles were great, very logical and smart, without getting boring. the art was a bit crude, but cute nonetheless and cartoony.
ALl in all the whole game was just chock full of charm and wit, I laughed more than I did playing the first two Monkey Island games actually.

The developer and script writer seems really talented, I can't wait to see what he comes up with next! I truly recommend this game to all adv gamers, it also had a fantastic hint system completely integrated into the gameplay, so you never got stuck or kept wandering back and forth in frustration, actually the best interface and hint system I've seen in any game, period, it was fun to use, didn't spoil anything (if you didn't need it and it never interferred with the game itself, it made the whole experience focused around the story and characters, I just wished it was longer, but this game is an instant classic. It reminded me of those old gems from Lucas Arts, this is how adv games should be made! :-)

Im not really a fan of the sci fi genre, I had a look at that galaxy sideroller thing, I think 3d pics of that would probably be as boring as the 2d, no offense Smiley , Im more into the fantasy/medieval genre,

about creating 3d, CInema have render networks too, but you have to pay extra for it,  quite a bit!
It's much better to just set everything to minimum during test rendering and then when you're ready for the final render crank everything up to the max, detail, light etc, and leave the pc alone for a couple of hours, overnight or something, if you check multipass you'll get everthing in layers so you can arrange it all in Photoshop afterwards, it's by far the best approach
(if you're not doing complex animation or extremely large images that is, then renderfarms, networks are invaluable, but I never tried it and probably never will, I am after all a happy amateur! Smiley

Deloria: sounds cool, I tried to find some pics and reference images for the floating castle, but I couldn't find any, have you got anything?
