http://www.tsl-game.com/Sad And just wondering will this have any effect of you being able to finish  the KQ 4 remakes ?

We have received communication from neither Activision nor its parent Vivendi. I am cautiously optimistic for now. If anything changes, we'll be sure to let everyone know in a dramatic fashion.  Wink

That's terrible but then again now Phoenix can focus on their pay projects, which will no doubt be bigger productions with  income.

I, and a few others are working together to lead another petition like the one in 2005.  For now, we have an online one you can get to from that website, and we will have a real one up soon.  Read the huge thread in the TSL forum for more info.  Seriously, it's packed with info.

Thanks Lorem, TSL and AGDI are the ones that got me back into adventuring. I sure hope we can come to the rescue again. If not I'll try to buy Sierra whenever I make my first blockbuster.

I worked a little with TSL, and  the existing KQ remakes are a completely different thing than the TSL project. IT's really a whole new KQ game with a completely new technology, style and game universe, than the old SIerra games that AGS emulates,

and this isn't really a new thing, it's been an ongoing discussion for a loooong time, and they're currently trying to decide what to do, there are a lot of different options, but seeing as the game is divided into several chapters, 5 in all, it's probably a rather bad idea to replay that mistake -they did with Vivendi; another legal deal with yet another game company, Activision,
and they need a lot of time, years and years, to finish it all, the chapters, if it ever happens,

the first TSL chapters raise a lot of questions and loose ends, actually more so than when kq8,moe ended, so asking Activision for a deal where we can continue down this road for like 10 years or so till we have the last chapter done is proooobably not going to happen, not a very realistic or sensible scenario in any case,

Most likely we'll have to strip away the KQ reference to make it our own game (and have complete freedom for the years to come), that's what I hope they'll decide to do,
I think the fans deserve that after all the support they've given the project through the years.

as for going commercial I think the team is very confused at the moment, and it's probably not a good idea, some might feel like they're taking former members' fan work and making money out of it/them, (plus all the non US teamsters who probably wouldn't see much of the income...
A lot of people would probably leave the team if that happened.

Even with a KQ4 plus game I don't think MMgames would have anything to fear, it's still basically the same game, a remake, with basically the same art, technology and style of the old SIerraOnline games, it doesn't pose any kind of threat to the kQ trade names that Vivendi, Activision owns. If they decide to go after the 'smaller' remakes they'll have to stop a whole myriad of amateur Sierra On-line fan games and remakes out there, and since TSL isn't really a remake, but a whole new semi professional game, it's a very unlikely scenario imo.

Your probably right Karen, but you never know when the other shoe might drop. As for me I'll be O.K. either way because I have a whole slew of projects lined up for Omega and I'm willing to take any of the people here that want to come if we have to stop this project. Hopefully Magic Mirror games will continue for a few more years though as I like the label very much. I like it more than own boring sounding Omega Works.

yeah, it really sucks,, taking away the KQ name plus the names of the game characters, places etc,, but I think it's an ok compromise considering the alternative (nothing at all), at least KQ die heard fans will recognize most everything, even if they are slightly changed,,

maybe Rosella turns out to be Roxanne or Rosanna!?, two nice songs btw (though ROsella would hardly have to turn off the red lights,,ehm,, *lol

Omega works, didn't you post a link earlier, I can't remember, can I have a looksie? Tongue

You could if the site still existed but it was a Geocities site and Google shut down Geocities.
I still have all the things that made up that site but I probably won't remake it for a while seeing as I have no HTML Skills.
It's a shame though, I started it in the late 90's.

AH, that's too bad,, maybe Steve or Graham can help you out, they've got some HTML skills I should think!,
considering you've got all that material ready to be set up, you could recruit new people through a fan site..
 I hope it works out!

and thanks for the compliments!, in general I try to make the rendered 3d look more like a painting and less plasticky, 3d has a tendency to look a bit stiff sometimes so what I usually do is render out different versions of the pic and then put them all together in Photoshop and use masks to include/exclude areas I find more interesting or favorable:)

Well that's one workaround for ya. It's hard to make believable CG with home computers. The movie companies use very big server farms that allows them to make fully detailed models.

thanks to the fans saving TSL all over again, the first chapter is now available for download,
it's a marvelous opening to the game, not much gameplay yet, but the technical bit is trulyfantastic, animation, art, cutscenes, wow!,
there will of course be much more gameplay, interactivity and puzzles in the upcoming chapters,

get it now! Tongue

I already downloaded it and I'm so glad it's finally coming out after going through two C & Ds. This is got to be one of the longest fan game struggles to grace the Internets.
